The UMANG App introduces new facilities, simplifying the process for both new and existing UAN holders, enhancing accessibility and efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/employees-provident-fund-organisation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Employees\u2019 Provident Fund Organisation<\/a>\u00a0(EPFO) has announced a major update that mandates the allotment and activation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/wealth\/uan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Universal Account Number<\/a>\u00a0(UAN) through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/umang-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UMANG App<\/a>\u00a0using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/face-authentication-technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Face Authentication Technology<\/a>\u00a0(FAT) starting August 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an EPFO circular on August 1, 2025, \u201cIn order to ensure error-free generation of UAN, it has been decided that w.e.f. 1st August, 2025 the allotment\/generation of UAN will be done only through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/wealth\/personal-finance-news\/aadhaar-card\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aadhaar<\/a>&nbsp;based Face Authentication Technology (FAT) in UMANG App.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees must activate their Universal Account Number (UAN) in order to use the Employee Provident Fund Organization&#8217;s (EPFO) online services, such as obtaining&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/epf-benefits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EPF benefits<\/a>&nbsp;and taking part in the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) program.
